2. Scanning or Photographing

Best Method - Flatbed Scanner: Place the paper on a scanner and scan at 200 DPI. Save the file.

Alternate Method - Smartphone Camera:

  • Do this in bright, daytime light to avoid shadows.
  • Place the paper on a flat surface and hold the phone directly above it.
  • Ensure the entire signature is in focus and the background looks white.
  • Take the picture.

How to Resize & Compress to 140x60 pixels and 30-49KB

Your scanned image or photo will be too large. You need to resize and compress it. The easiest way is to use free online tools.

Using Free Online Tools

  1. Go to a free image resizer website (e.g., ILoveIMG, ResizePixel).
  2. Upload your signature photo.
  3. Set the new dimensions to 140 pixels (Width) and 60 pixels (Height). Do NOT maintain the aspect ratio.
  4. Download the resized image.
  5. Now, go to a free image compressor website (e.g., TinyPNG, Compressor.io).
  6. Upload your resized signature image.
  7. Use the quality slider to compress the file. Keep checking the output file size until it is between 30KB and 49KB.
  8. Download your final, compliant signature file. Rename it to something like "my_signature.jpg".
